Tom Rutter

Kick London (Richmond)

Tom has always loved playing sport, in particular football. Having studied Sports Science at University in Canterbury, he discovered using sport had a huge potential for sharing his life with others.

Tom was born in Carshalton in March 1977 and grew up in Croydon, South London. During his junior days as a player he spent many a game providing crosses and width for his team mates on the left side of the pitch - not to mention always being late home from the local park after dark, much to the frustration of his parents!  He never played for a pro club; his playing career instead taking a path in the amateur and Christian leagues in Croydon and Bromley.

Coaching has always a big attraction for Tom and he started coaching young people (Years 7, 8, & 9) at his old secondary school, here starting his coaching portfolio as he set out to attain his first qualification with the Surrey FA.

Graduating from Canterbury in 1999 Tom began his coaching journey and has now coached football in England and abroad. In September 2001 he joined the Kick Team working alongside ‘Youth for Christ’ and ‘Ambassadors in Sport’ during the Commonwealth Games in Manchester 2002. Tom’s time with Kick helped him discover that it was not just a year in the sports ministry field that he was being called to, but a lifetime!

Tom return to London in 2002 and with a team of Christians from West London set about bringing the vision of Kick London to life as a London based charity. Tom was appointed Development Officer of Kick London in 2003. He works in the London borough of Richmond coaching in schools and clubs. He continues to be excited to see how the work of Kick London (and Sports Ministry) has the potential to reach and through Christ’s help transform many young lives across the capital city of London!

Tom is married to Michelle where they now live in Hampton, West London.
